Pre-Kentucky Derby air show, fireworks Saturday

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - The annual Thunder Over Louisville fireworks and air show is set for Saturday, exactly two weeks before the Kentucky Derby.

Louisville's Great Lawn on the waterfront, which offers public viewing, will open at 9 a.m. EDT and the air show begins at 3 p.m. The fireworks, one of North America's largest shows, begin at 9:30 p.m. Admission is free with a Pegasus Pin.

Crowds are also expected along the Ohio River waterfront in southern Indiana.

The Clark Memorial Bridge linking Louisville and southern Indiana will close Thursday at 9:30 a.m. EDT Some of the fireworks for the show are launched from the bridge.

Several road closures begin Friday in downtown Louisville.

The air show usually features military aircraft, but those were canceled due to funding cuts. Civilian planes will provide the entertainment.
