Property tax bills going out in Fayette County soon

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - For homeowners in Fayette County, it's that time of year again.

Property tax bills will be going out in the mail by the end of the month.

Fayette County PVA David O'Neill says other than increases in the tax rates from the board of education, and soil conservation, your property taxes should be the same as last year.

He also says the number of home sales have taken a big jump in Lexington.

So far this year, that number is up 16 percent, compared to the same period last year.

"You've got a robust inventory of houses on the market at reasonable prices, you've got increased consumer confidence, the banks are lending again, and all that comes together to really demonstrate an improvement in our local housing market," O'Neill said.

O'Neill says despite the down economy, property values have remained steady in Fayette County over the last four years.
