Proposed partnership would expand Paducah clinic

PADUCAH, Ky. (AP) - Medical officials in western Kentucky hope to expand the scope of care a Paducah clinic offers.

The Paducah Sun reported the St. Nicholas Family Free Clinic now treats only people with no insurance coverage. However, KentuckyCare is working with the clinic and hopes to expand its hours of operation and give it the ability to provide care for minimally insured patients.

KentuckyCare is based in Arkansas, where it operates 26 clinics under the name ArCare. About a year ago, the group opened its first Kentucky clinic in Bardwell. Agency general counsel Winston Collier says that clinic opened after the Delta Commission determined Carlisle County was medically underserved.

The proposed partnership must be approved by health care regulators.
