Prosecutors to seek death penalty against man charged in Perry Co. triple murder

PERRY COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Prosecutors plan to seek the death penalty for a man accused in a triple murder.

21-year-old Dalton Stidham is accused of shooting Caitlin Cornett, Jackie Cornett and Taylor Cornett in a parking lot at Hazard Community and Technical College in January.

Caitlin and her Uncle Jackie died at the scene. 12-year-old Taylor Cornett, Jackie's daughter, died a day later at UK Hospital.

The shootings happened during a custody exchange between Stidham and Caitlin Cornett.

Stidham's trial is set for September 9.
