LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Mayor Jim Gray is encouraging residences in Fayette County to attend a public meeting to discuss the plans for the Town Branch Commons, a new addition coming to downtown Lexington.

"It's about creating a compelling place where people want to be," explains Mayor Gray, "the downtown of every city is truly where the heart can sing and we want to create an environment where people want to come and want to live. We believe that the new additions coming in 2014 will do just that."

The Meeting will discuss the proposed plans for the project, which is expected to start some time in 2014. "I often say a journey is safest when the road map is the clearest," explains Mayor Gray, "we're working on a good plan now so everything will be achievable."

The meeting is on Wednesday at 5:00 PM at the Downtown Arts Center. City leaders say they believe this will better downtown and they want to hear from the public on how they can best do that. Officials say ideas, opinions, positive feedback and concerns are all welcomed.
