PULASKI COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - The Pulaski County Sheriff's Office has issued a scam alert. The sheriff's office says several people have called to report they've been contacted by a caller claiming to be from the Sheriff's Office Warrants Division. The caller tells the victim they've missed jury duty and a warrant has been issued for their arrest. The caller tells the victim they can avoid arrest by giving the caller money.
If you miss jury duty in Pulaski County, the sheriff's office says you will receive a letter, on official letterhead, from the office of Judge Jeffrey Burdette. The letter will require you to appear on a specific court date. If you fail to appear on that date, a criminal summons will be issued.
The sheriff's office wants people to know that it will never call you and solicit money in connection to throwing out a warrant. If you receive such a call, the sheriff's office says you should document the number it came from, hang up and contact the sheriff's office immediately.
