PULASKI COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - A Bronston man is in jail after a Somerset Police Department investigation into a criminal abuse case.

Robert J. Miller, age 22, was arrested New Year's Eve by a Pulaski County sheriff's deputy, who discovered Miller was wanted on an outstanding warrant. Miller had been indicted by the December session of the Pulaski Grand Jury.

On October 18, 2013 the Somerset-Pulaski County EMS responded to a call at Bob Evans restaurant where a two-year-old male was reported to be unresponsive. The child was then flown to UK Hospital by Air Methods. The medical staff at UK Hospital determined the child suffered brain injury due to blunt force trauma. The statements Miller gave to the medical staff were inconsistent with their examination of the child's injuries.

Miller was determined to be the only adult caregiver present when the injuries occurred. The investigation revealed that when the child lost consciousness, Miller drove the child from Bronston to Bob Evans where the child's mother was employed and 911 was notified at that time.

Miller was charged with Assault First Degree, Criminal Abuse First Degree, and two counts of Persistent Felony Offender Second Degree. He remains lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center on a $100,000 cash bond.
