Rain gives way to snow late Friday night in Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - For much of Friday afternoon, Lexington saw only rain with promises of snow. Just before 10 p.m., the flakes finally started falling.

Before that moment, it seemed everyone was playing the "waiting game." A group of snow plow drivers all parked at the northern split to watch and wait for the weather to change. For other drivers, the rain was not nearly as intimidating as the thought of seeing more snow fall overnight.

"I was worried earlier when they said two to four inches and they closed the schools and all of that, but i haven't seen nothing but rain, so far. Of course, I live in Scott County so after I get done here in Lexington the trip might be a little strange for me," said Dylan Smith.

A big concern moving forward will be how the temperatures affect the rain-soaked roads, and what complications a layer of snow might add.
