LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - This is turning into an historic first day of the national signing period for UK. New coach Mark Stoops has 22 letters-of-intent thus far with the addition of Trinity defensive end Jason Hatcher. The list also includes junior college stars Javess Blue and Za'Darius Smith.
Blue (6-0, 190, Babson Park, Fla. ), a wide receiver, and Smith, (6-6 250 Greenville, Ala.) a defensive end, fill a need for Stoops and the Wildcats.
Kentuckians Ryan Timmons (WR, Franklin Co. High School) and Jacob Hyde (DL, Clay Co. High School) are officially Wildcats.
Already, this class of recruits is rated by most services as one of the top 30 in the country. It's being hailed by many as one of the best in UK history.
