MADISONVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Hopkins County authorities say human remains found near Madisonville were those of a Nebo man.
Sheriff Frankie Latham told The Messenger in Madisonville a Louisville dental expert verified Wednesday that the skeletal remains were those of 42-year-old Rodney "Bo" Hale. He was last seen alive on Nov. 29, 2010, working at a construction site.
A property owner along a creek spotted human bones on June 29 after nearly six inches of rain fell in the area. Latham said the rain caused the bones to surface. About 75 percent of the skeleton was found during a search of a culvert behind two houses.
Deputy Coroner Wayne Burton said the dental match is nearly certain, but DNA testing will take another six weeks.
The cause of Hale's death isn't yet known.
