Report suggests Americans' dryers are inefficient

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A new report by the National Research Defense Council suggests many Americans are using an inefficient dryer.
The report says annually, Americans on average use as much energy drying clothes as they do washing clothes, washing dishes, and refrigerating food combined, spending $9 billion annually in heating costs.
An NRDC scientist says electric dryers should be replaced with heat pump models.
