FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Former Kentucky Agriculture Commissioner Richie Farmer was back in court Friday morning. The former UK basketball star appeared on state charges related to improper spending of campaign funds.
Farmer was sentenced to one year in jail. That sentence will run concurrently with his 27-month sentence. He plead guilty in federal court and circuit court back in September to government corruption charges.
Both Farmer and his sister, Rhonda Monroe, were charged for their roles in a campaign finance scheme. Monroe learned her sentence last November. The former assistant executive director for the Kentucky Registry of Election Finance is serving five years probation.
