Severe thunderstorms have developed across parts of Central Kentucky. Expect more of these to develop through the evening hours.
RICHMOND, Ky. (WKYT)-They say it is their way of giving back. Several businessmen are buying rental properties in the area of Turpin Drive and Third Street, hoping to make positive changes in the neighborhood.
"I'm a long-time Richmond resident," Donovan Wadsworth, one of the property owners explained.
Wadsworth and another rental group have purchased dozens of units and are taking them down to the studs, hoping to re-build the community.
When they were purchased, many units could have been considered tear-downs, complete with structural problems and squatters. But just because they'll be much nicer, doesn't mean Wadsworth will make hem unaffordable.
"There are lots of people here who really need housing," he explained.
He says the properties will remain section-8 and he and the other property owner are working with HUD.
"The response from the neighborhood has been overwhelming," he said.
