DANVILLE, Ky. (WKYT) - Police say a student was robbed at gunpoint near a central Kentucky college campus.
It happened near West Walnut Street just before three a.m. Saturday near Centre College.
Police say a student and a visitor were approached by an man with a gun demanding money.
It all started at Speedway right next door to several apartments and dorms on Centre College's campus. Now police are asking for your help in finding the man responsible.
"They lost their money, but they were okay so that's the main thing," said Asst. Chief Tom Bustle, with Danville police.
While leaving this gas station, one Centre College student and his friend visiting from out of town were approached by a man with a gun demanding money.
"They didn't have any cash on them, so he took their wallets and demanded their debit cards," said Asst. Chief Bustle.
That's when police say the two victims were followed to PNC Bank just around the corner. And the entire time the robber had a gun pointed at both of them.
The robber got away with 300 dollars, but police say the situation could have been much worse.
"The two young men did some things that were right in respect to this. They followed his instructions and stuff," said Asst. Chief Bustle. "And usually when they don't is when somebody gets hurt."
Danville police tell us they do have a person of interest in this robbery and hope to make an arrest soon.
Police tell us they contacted Centre College to alert students since the incident happened so close to campus.
The suspect is being described as a white man, about 5'9", weighing 190 pounds, wearing blue jeans, a dark colored jacket, a hat, and a white handkerchief covering his face.
