Salvation Army in Lexington asking for help with Red Kettle Campaign

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) -- The goal is $500,000 by Monday, but the Salvation Army in Lexington still has a long way to go.

The Red Kettle Campaign is the charity's biggest fundraiser, and this holiday season they are still $193,000 short.

Major Debra Ashcraft says this has been the toughest year since she's been involved with the organization.

"At the same time, our business isn't slowing down," said Ashcraft. "People are coming to us because they're facing personal disaster, such as the loss of their home, the loss of jobs, cut hours where they can't even put food on the table."

Major Ashcraft says there is a chance that services will be cut if a significant amount of money isn't raised by Monday.
