Scalpers target Red, White and Boom

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – What's a milestone for Whitaker Ball Park's Red, White and Boom has become an opportunity for criminals.

A sold-out event has ticket scalpers looking to profit on patriotism.

We found Craigslist postings offering tickets to the event for $75-100.

They originally cost $9.

Organizers says there's not much they can do.

"That's really all we can do is offer the tickets at affordable price and if someone chooses to mark that ticket up, that falls on them," said Michael Jordan, of Clear Channel Communications.

Seth Poteat, with the ballpark, says it's a crime of opportunity that can leave a lot of folks disappointed.

"It's obviously hurting fans who wanted to come out and now there only resort is to go to Craigslist and pay $75 a ticket," said Poteat.

If caught, scalpers could face a $250 fine or a week in jail.
