Updated: Wed 3:30 PM, Oct 24, 2012

HARRISON COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - The Harrison County Board of Education has approved a proposal to allow students to use smartphones in class.

School leaders say the smartphones can be used as an educational tool and help students stay connected with teachers.

Students cannot use the phones to take pictures or videos while in class, and they can only be used in common areas under a teacher's supervision.
