School recasts musical with sexy Elvis songs

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - A parent who was "All Shook Up" about Elvis Presley songs in a high-school drama prompted educators to cancel the musical, deeming it too sexual.

However, school administrators in a Salt lake City suburb reversed their decision a day later.

Officials say they received permission Thursday from the play's producer to trim some objectionable material from "All Shook Up," an American jukebox musical that borrows from Presley's songbook and William Shakespeare.

Rehearsals for "All Shook Up" were canceled Wednesday before the play was made ready for production at Herriman High School, 20 miles south of Salt Lake City.

Jordan School District spokeswoman Sandy Riesgraf (REIS'-graff) says the show will go on with some minor edits to Presley's songs and scene changes. She couldn't immediately specify the changes.
