Former principal: school threats common after high-profile attacks

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - The one-time principal at a western Kentucky high school where three students were shot to death 15 years ago says threats of violence at schools will always pop up after a highly publicized incident.

Since Adam Lanza's shooting rampage at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Conn., on Dec. 14 that left 20 children and six adults dead, Kentucky schools have seen a pattern of bomb threats, shooting threats and rumors.

Former Heath High School principal Bill Bond of Paducah says the rash of threats around the country usually fades in the days after a nationally publicized shooting but will continue in the community where the incident took place.

School districts from Prestonsburg to Paducah have reported threats in the last week.
