A Flood Watch and a Winter Storm Watch are out for the entire region late Tuesday through early Thursday. Heavy rain develops Tuesday night into Wednesday morning and may put down 1”-3” in some areas. Arctic air pushes in from west to east on Wednesday with heavy sleet and snow taking over. That setup could produce several inches of accumulation. Snow will slowly end from west to east Thursday as bitterly cold air continues to push in.
SCOTT COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - As more winter weather moves in, road crews in Scott County tell us they're ready to hit the streets again. They say it's been a tiring winter.
"This ice is a road department's worst nightmare," says J.R. Brandenburg with the Scott County Roads Department. "I'm ready to talk about sunshine and mowing grass."
But, right now, Brandenburg can't look that far ahead.
"So far we've gone out 20 time spreading salt and a lot of all-nighters. The fatigue and overtime, everybody gets tired of it this time of year."
They'll put that aside and load up for yet another round.
"We know this part of our job keeping the road safe," he says.
The salt supply isn't a concern for the county, they have plenty.
