Scott school board member says FBI interviewed him

GEORGETOWN, Ky. (AP) - A school board member in a central Kentucky district says he has been interviewed by the FBI about construction projects.

The announcement by Scott County school board member Haley Conway during a Tuesday night meeting comes in the wake of a state investigation. The state is looking into a pay raise for the district superintendent, a board trip and hiring at middle schools.

Both the Georgetown News-Graphic and the Lexington Herald-Leader reported Conway made the announcement before the board voted 4-1 to hire an architectural firm and a construction manager for an $8 million second phase of a new elementary school. Conway was the lone "no" vote.

Conway told the board he had a two-hour conversation with the FBI but did not go into details.

Board members said little in response, and no one volunteered whether they had also been interviewed.
