Search continues for injured dog

Posted: Mon 12:47 PM, Jun 18, 2012

Animal control officers spent Monday setting up more traps hoping to catch a dog that desperately needs medical care.

The hound mix, which has been on the loose for a few months in the area of Village and Cambridge off Alexandria Drive in Lexington, has a collar embedded in its neck.

Animal control officers set up traps near the area where it's been spotted the most. Over the weekend they say a dog was caught in a trap near Devonport Drive, but someone released the animal before officers could get to it.

"If somebody is tampering with the trap we're not going to get this dog any help, the sooner we get this dog the sooner we get it some help," said Captain Tim Mitchell of Fayette County Animal Control.

If you see the dog you are asked to call animal control at (859) 255-9033.
