Whitley Co. man missing for two days found dead

UPDATE: The search for a missing Whitley County man has ended. Just before 6 p.m. Wednesday, search crews said they had located 62-year-old Richard Martin. Officials later told us that Martin was dead when they found him.

Martin left his Whitley County home Monday, and disappeared. Search crews have spent the past two days searching for him in the Bee Creek area, near Corbin.

"We've had atv's in here for about two days. So we have to find the stuff nobody else has found."

"If you can just mark it off and notify your incident commander, because that's something that might have to be looked at or analyzed."

New search parameters are set for crews from McCreary, Whitley and Knox Counties.
They are told to look for any signs of life, working in a search area five miles deep, three and a half miles wide.

They set off, hoping for a break.
The trails presented their own challenges.

"You gotta watch for limbs that will come in and smack you in the face. It's real tedious," said Bronson Neace with Whitley County Fire and Rescue.

"Well this is my third day out here. And it just wears you out," said Neace.

"It's very easy to overlook something in these woods," he added.

But he knows their struggles pale in comparison to what the family is going through.

"It's very saddening, but it's a job and it's what we have to do."

Crews will be out all night, and continue operations until Martin is found.

A crew from Tennessee is joining in the search Wednesday night.
