LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Police are trying to figure out if two hotel robberies this week in Lexington are connected.
The first happened on Tuesday night at the Courtyard Marriot off Harrodsburg Road. Then again on Thursday night at the Courtyard Marriot on Newtown Court. Police say the suspect in both hold-ups was wearing a Halloween mask.
Around 11:00 p.m. on Thursday, police say a man wearing a red, white and blue Halloween mask walked into the Courtyard Marriott off Newtown Court. He told the two clerks behind the counter that he had a weapon and demanded cash.
This style of robbery is similar to one that happened at the Courtyard Marriott off Harrodsburg Road on Tuesday night. During both crimes, the robber wore a Halloween mask and said he had a weapon but never showed it.
After getting cash in Thursday night's robbery, the thief took off with about $100 before police got there. While officers say right now they're unsure whether the same man is responsible for both crimes, they are looking into that possibility.
Managers at both Courtyard Marriot's tell WKYT that they did not want to release any surveillance video of the suspect.
