LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WKYT) - Churchill Downs had tighter security in the wake of last month's Boston Marathon bombings.
On Friday, security lines were long but moving.
"Pretty simple, just wands used, no pat downs or anything," says one Kentucky Oaks Day attendee.
One of the most noticeable changes was no coolers. For the ladies, purses had to be no bigger than 12 inches.
For many of the race fans we talked to, the security was a welcome sight and not an inconvenience.
"I appreciate the security," said another race fan. "They are working their tails off to make sure everyone is safe and secure. Keep it fun, keep it good."
