Service set for Kentuckian, killed while saving a family

Family and friends will honor a Kentucky man who died saving a family in the Mississippi River.

Barbourville native Kyle Hardman and another barge worker jumped into the water near Saint Louis last week to help the family escape their sinking boat. Investigators say Hardman rescued one child before the current pulled him under the barge.

Hardman's visitation is from 6:00 to 7:30 Wednesday evening at Barbourville Affordable Funeral Home. His funeral service will follow.
