Several companies take part in downtown Lexington ice bucket challenge

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - You can't get on the internet without seeing one of these videos.
People taking part in ice bucket challenges to raise money and awareness for ALS.

On Friday, workers from more than 15 Lexington businesses came out to do their part to help this cause.

Eleven bank presidents and several other Lexington executives participated in the Ice Bucket Challenge at the Fifth Third Pavilion.
Organizers say that what started as an idea at Thursday Night Live has become an event that the business community has rallied around.

The following Lexington companies took part, making a donation to the ALS Association Kentucky Chapter:

Home City Ice provided 1000 pounds of ice.

According to the ALS Association, the Ice Bucket challenge has raised $9 million per week since the end of July.
