A major winter storm is on the way to the bluegrass state. Local high water issues are possible early Wednesday and that will be followed up by heavy snow and sleet. Significant accumulations are likely Wednesday night and Thursday.
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - One man who lives on St. John Court told WKYT after hearing around ten gunshots, he saw four men running down Scottsdale Circle, and shortly after, multiple police cruisers.
He says his wife thought she heard something hit their home during the exchange of gunfire.
This morning they discovered their home was one hit by a stray bullet, that had pierced the siding and come into a spare bedroom.
It was one of at least four reports that police were following up with in the area early Friday morning.
Witnesses told police two groups of people exchanged gunfire around eleven Thursday night.
When officers arrived to check things out, they saw two men running from the area.
They arrested Vondre Smithers and charged him with carrying a concealed deadly weapon.
A Lexington Police spokeswoman says there have been no other arrests so far.
As for the homes hit by stray bullets, police say there were people inside them at the time of the shooting, but no one was hurt.
This is the second shooting incident in this area in two days.
Wednesday, gunfire was heard on nearby Lasalle Road, with no reported injuries or property damage that time.
