Look for storms to increase from the west the rest of the afternoon. Heavy rain, strong winds and lightning are the main threats.
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - In the span of just five hours, three separate incidents took place at one home in the Winburn neighborhood of Lexington.
Around midnight, police said they were alerted by someone who said they saw several people trying to break into the home on Ward Drive.
We're told by police that when the people were seen leaving the home, someone fired a shot at them.
Apparently the suspects, who got into a car, fired back.
Shortly after the midnight incident, Lexington police made a traffic stop just down the road. There were three people inside the car, along with a gun and drugs. All three were arrested and charged with receiving stolen property, which was found to be the gun, as well as possession of paraphernalia. One individual was charged with possession of narcotics.
Police did not say whether they were involved in the earlier break-in at the home on Ward Drive.
There was someone home at the time of the attempted break-in, and police believe he is the person who shot at the suspects. However, when police arrived at the scene, the person in the residence was gone.
While trying to find the resident in the home, who police believe is Jorge Garcia-Hernandez, they found drugs. Garcia was located and arrested.
After police left, we're told the owner of the home on Ward Drive came to secure the house, and found two people inside.
Jacob Smith and Tamell Johnson, both from Lexnigton, were arrested for burglary.
