Severe weather damages parts of Pulaski County

SOMERSET, Ky. (WKYT/WYMT) - We're tracking reports of damage in multiple parts of Pulaski County, after strong winds moved into the area Sunday afternoon.

Officials in Pulaski County tell us a business was destroyed when straight-line winds whipped through the Ferguson area, just south of Somerset. We're not told the name of the business.

The most damage was felt on Waddle Road, including multiple roofs being blown off, and trees knocked down.

The gusts of powerful winds also tore apart this large concrete building, scattering debris across several nearby blocks.

Debbie McGuire lives right across the street from the damaged building, and was at home getting ready for church when the storm blew through.

"When all of the sudden I felt the wind blow real heavily. It shook the whole house from the roof to the foundation," said McGuire.

At this time we aren't sure who owned the building, or what it was used for, but neighbors tell us a man had been working on fixing it up for the past several months.

Workers tell us no injuries have been reported as a result of the storm.

Neighbors think it was a tornado that caused the damage. Those reports have not been confirmed. Surveyors could be in the area as early as Monday.
