Shelby County water tower collapses

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Shelby County officials say a water tower collapsed on Saturday near Waddy.

A Louisville station reports that the tower collapsed around 5:30 p.m. in the 1100 block of Waddy Road.

A home and church were damaged in the water tower's collapse. Officials say that services were disrupted near the tower.

When the tower came crashing down, it dumped thousands of gallons of water.

Keno Turner lives in the area and was there when the tower fell.

"I was just sitting in my bedroom with the windows up. I heard a lot explosion. When I can out of by side door I seen all this part of the roof off the parsonage and just wood and stuff, mowers, air conditioner and everything," he said.

After emergency crews evaluated the situation, utilities were shut off to several homes.

No injuries have been reported.
