CLARK COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - According to the Clark County Sheriff's Office, a 19-year-old driver was outbound on Colby Road, from Winchester, when he lost control of his pickup, sending him rolling into a field just off the roadway.
The driver was flown to U.K. Hospital with, what the Sheriff Berl Perdue described as a severe leg injury.
The Sheriff said the teen was not wearing a seat belt, and was thrown out of the side window when the truck rolled.
"It appears maybe something ran out in the roadway. We're not for sure, but there is a long braking pattern in the road before he left the roadway. That's something we're going to have to dig into a little more when we talk to him," explained Sheriff Perdue.
The Sheriff said the victim was conscious but they did not get a chance to talk to him before he was flown to the hospital, leaving them to speculate on how this accident happened. At this time, investigators do not believe drugs, alcohol, or even speed played a factor in the crash.
The truck was the only vehicle involved in the crash.
