Shoplifting leads to police chase

A woman went to jail yesterday after police say she drove off with an officer still holding her car door.

Police say 40 year-old Roberta Bolling was caught with merchandise in her purse in the dressing room at the Dillard's on Nicholasville Road. She ran from the store and an off-duty police officer who was working as a security guard chased after her.

The officer followed her to the parking lot and was attempting to open her car door, that's when police say Bolling drove off, with the officer still holding the handle.

The officer followed Bolling in his cruiser as she drove down Nicholasville Road and he says when he turned on his lights she drove away for the second time, across three lanes of traffic.

Police finally arrested her at Man O' War and Nichols Park. In the arrest report the officer says Bolling continued to resist as he made that arrest. Bolling is charged with theft by unlawful taking, wanton endangerment, fleeing and evading, and resisting arrest.
