UPDATE: Police say they have not made any arrested. They do tell us they now believe the crime is drug related.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Police are still searching for two people after gunfire rang out during a home invasion.

The crime happened just before three p.m. Tuesday at a home on Colorado Road in Lexington.

Police tell WKYT that an 18-year-old was home when two people came to the door and tried to force their way inside. They say the 18-year-old then fired a shot at the suspects, shattering the glass in his front door.

"Somebody came to the door and asked for John," said Lexington Police Lieutenant Chris Van Brackel. "He said I don't know anyone named John. Both suspects then tried to force their way into the house. One of the people actually punched him in the face. The homeowner had a gun and fired one shot at both of them and then they turned around and fled out of the house."

Neighbors tell us they heard the shot and saw men running from the home.

Officers used a K-9 unit and a helicopter to search for the suspects.

Police say the 18-year-old says he did not know the men who tried to break-in. But police now say this incident is drug-related.

No one was hurt in the incident.
