LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Police are trying to figure out who fired two gunshots into a Lexington home and why.
Police say someone fired two bullets into the back door of a home on Whispering Hills Drive around 2:30 Saturday morning.
A total of four people were home at the time: two adults and two children. Both children are under the age of five.
All four were sleeping when they heard the shots, but none of them were hurt.
While police don’t believe the family’s home was intentionally targeted, the situation is concerning.
“Children in the house does make a difference for us," says Lt. Chris Van Brackel, Lexington Police Department. "Like a lot of cases, this case is going to be made. There are people that know what happened. This case is going to be made by someone calling the police department or crime stoppers and giving us that information.”
Lexington police say the bullets found inside the home were also sent to their crime lab to help identify the shooter.
