Lexington police say they're shocked no one was seriously injured after more than a dozen shots rang out overnight. Now police and neighbors are left with many unanswered questions.
Lexington police were called out shortly after 11:00 Thursday night outside the Pimlico Apartments on Centre Parkway after several people reported gun shots in the area. Police did not find any shooting victims, but they did find several shell casings and even bullet holes. One bullet went through an apartment unit, but no one was inside at the time. Bullet holes were also seen in two vehicles in the parking lot.
Witnesses told police two men were arguing in the parking lot before they started firing shots at each other.
Lexington police have not made any arrests and no one has come forward claiming to be a victim.
Some residents tell WKYT that they weren't phased by the scene last night because they say there is always crime there.
But other residents are wanting to move out because of the shooting.
Ursula Harris was in her bed last night when she heard the commotion outside of her apartment.
"Out of my bedroom window, I saw a young, black guy running up the parkway right here. After he was running I heard shots, like five or six shots, and then he just started running faster," adds Harris.
"It was just really scary, you know, especially when you have children," Harris says.
Although there are no reported shooting victims, Harris realizes that the stray bullet could have gone through her apartment, "You know it could have went through the bedroom window. It could have hit anybody. It was just really scary last night.
Harris moved to the Centre Parkway apartments not too long ago to escape the crime in the city, while living in Illinois. She says not much is different inside this Lexington apartment complex.
