MADISON CO, Ky. (WKYT) - A sergeant with the Madison County sheriff's office said six people have been taken to the hospital after a crash near Berea.
It happened around 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday on old U.S. 25. Police say a van and an SUV collided. They say it was a pretty hard impact when the two vehicles hit head-on at the corner of Herndon Lane and Old Kingston - Berea Road.
Police say all six people injured were alert and talking. Officials on the scene say the injuries didn't appear to be life-threatening.
People who live near the intersection say they're ready to see the crashes come to a stop.
The crash took out a section of Paul Reynolds' fence. It didn't take long for him and his family to get to work.
"Well, we're used to it, we're actually prepared for it now! We have to be," Reynolds says.
Reynolds has more than 100 cattle in his fields. He said cars smash through the fence a couple of times a year for all kinds of reasons.
"We've had people actually, law chasing them. You know, we've had people just not paying attention, a lot of times it's new people in the area," Reynolds said.
Officials are still trying to find out what caused this wreck. While they look into what happened, people who live near the intersection will be watching closely, hoping the next one doesn't come too soon.
The road has since reopened. Officials say the person in the SUV wasn't seriously hurt.
