LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Fire officials say a woman was transported to the hospital after a small fire inside her Lexington home Saturday morning.
The call came in just before 7a.m. Fire officials say when they arrived to the home on Kees Road it was already filled with smoke.
They tell us they had to rescue a woman who was inside the home on the second floor. She was transported to UK with non-life threatening injuries.
Fire officials say they also rescued two dogs from the residence, both were given to a neighbor for keeping until the home owner gets out of the hospital.
Fire officials say it appears a mattress in the basement had somehow caught fire. They were on the scene for an hour and a half to clear out the smoke and look over any damage.
They say the house sustained minimal damage and the home did have working smoke detectors.
