GEORGETOWN, Ky. (WKYT) - Strong gusts of wind carrying snow all across the county made for difficult Tuesday travel here in Scott county.
"The side streets are probably our biggest concern right now. Those are our slickest areas. There was a portion this morning, probably about 45 minutes, that we actually had to shut down Connector Road from McDonalds to the Old Oxford Road area. It was just so slick that the vehicles couldn't pass it," said Georgetown Police Captain Robert Swanigan.
And even with snow plows of all sizes crossed a path through town and into the county, the drifting snow and accumulation seemed to undo all the work in some areas.
Captain Swanigan says Georgetown Police have responded to about ten either motorist assists, or weather-related accidents so far today. His biggest advice, is don't be out on the roads if you don't have to be.
