RICHMOND, Ky. (WKYT) - Friday morning's snow was enough to cause delays for area universities. UK and Eastern Kentucky University both postponed the start of classes two hours to give students more time to get to campus.
The roads in Richmond were pretty slick Friday morning. There was snowfall in Madison County, but a majority of the snow had melted away by late afternoon.
"Most everything was cleared up. I didn't even leave the dorm until about 12 something so by the time I left, it was cool. Everything was cleared out mostly," explained one Eastern Kentucky University student.
All students at EKU got to sleep in Friday morning. Classes were delayed two hours because of the overnight snowfall. A campus bus driver we spoke with said the road conditions around EKU improved significantly as the day progressed. Salt trucks were out in Richmond and campus crews kept busy throughout the day laying salt on walkways.
Administration will wait out the weekend to decide whether or not to delay classes Monday.
