Kari Hall's Sunday Night Forecast
After a weekend of off and on snow showers we are finally seeing skies clear from west to east. Some areas did measure a few inches, especially in southern and eastern KY. In Lexington about an inch of snow that fell overnight melted through the day as temperatures warmed just above freezing.
Now that skies have cleared expect it to be a chilly night. Lows will drop to the upper teens. High pressure helped to cut off the stream of snow and will give us clear skies briefly as it quickly moves across the region. It will make way for an area of low pressure moving in from the west. A wintry mix will be possible late Monday ahead of the system. Then rain will be likely early Tuesday with storms possible. A strong cold front will roll across the Commonwealth changing rain to snow Tuesday. We go back to a cold and wet pattern through mid next week. Another round of accumulating snow will be likely Tuesday night into Wednesday.
The winter weather will be short lived as temperatures warm for the end of the week with expected highs near 60 by Saturday.
