There's not much change in the forecast for today except for the fact that clouds will be around. Once the weak system to the north of us tapers off then we will be left with a mix of sun and clouds during the afternoon with temperatures in the upper 30s to lower 40s. Tonight is when we can expect snow showers to roll through the area. This will lay down minor accumulations across the area. A coating-1" will be the call for most, but eastern KY could see slightly higher totals than that. All in all this is not a big snow maker. However, you know as well as I do even light accumulations could cause a few issues during the early morning commute.
Once this front moves through some really cold air moves on in. Highs during the day on Wednesday and Thursday will be bitterly cold in the 20s. Heading into Friday we will be with a dry day, but the night is where things become active. Snow showers move in out ahead of a more potent system for the weekend. Saturday doesn't look all that bad during the afternoon, but Sunday into Monday will feature a wintry mix.
