FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. (AP) - Over 100 soldiers serving in a combat aviation brigade at Fort Campbell arrived home about three months early at the post on the Tennessee-Kentucky state line after completing a deployment to Afghanistan.

The soldiers who flew in on Friday are from the 2nd Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment, 101st Combat Aviation Brigade, 101st Airborne Division. The aviation brigade returned after about six months into their nine-month deployment to eastern Afghanistan.

The regiment was based at Forward Operating Base Fenty, and their role was to advise and assist the Afghan National Army in conducting reconnaissance support operations. During their first three months, the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade flew more than 7,000 missions and completed more than 600 medical evacuation missions.
