Somerset police arrest 'dangerous' burglary suspect

SOMERSET, Ky. (WKYT) - He was wanted for a crime spree in five Kentucky counties, now a man police described as 'dangerous' is behind bars.

Somerset Police tell us James Lopez, Jr. contacted them Friday morning to turn himself in, officers arrested him at a gas station in Eubank.

Lopez is suspected of breaking into homes in Anderson, Mercer, Boyle, Lincoln and Casey counties.

Police tell us Lopez would knock on the door and if no one answers he would break down the back door or window and tear apart the inside.

Investigators say the most common items taken are jewelry, prescription drugs, and money. Authorities don't expect to recover the stolen items, police tell us they believe Lopez already sold them.

Lopez is being held in the Casey County Detention Center, the only place that has an active warrant against him.
