Our winter storm is shattering records. 17.1" of snow fell in Lexington and that's the most ever recorded during a two day snowstorm. We've had 32.1" of snow in the last 17 days.
The Southern Lights open on Friday night at the Kentucky Horse Park.
This is the 19th year for the annual tradition that always draws a large crowd. This year's display will include a basketball themed tribute to the 2012 National Champion Kentucky Wildcats.
There are also several indoor exhibits for people to visit, including an exotic petting zoo, pony and camel rides and the Mini Train Express. You can also get your picture taken with Santa.
The American Bus Association selected Southern Lights as a top 100 event for 2013.
Winners are chosen from hundreds of celebrations, festivals, and fairs in the United States and Canada.
The Southern Lights are open through December 31st from 5:30 to 10 daily. Indoor attractions will be open every night except November 22 and December 24 - 31. The cost is $15.00 per car Sunday through Thursday and $20.00 per car on Friday and Saturday. In addition, the cost for an extended van or limousine is $30.00, a mini-bus is $50.00, a school bus is $75.00 and a motor-coach is $125.00.
All proceeds support the Kentucky Horse Park Foundation.
