A Flood Watch and a Winter Storm Watch are out for the entire region late Tuesday through early Thursday. Heavy rain develops Tuesday night into Wednesday morning and may put down 1”-3” in some areas. That would be enough to cause, at least, some local high water issues. Arctic air pushes in from west to east on Wednesday with heavy sleet and snow taking over. That setup could produce several inches of accumulation with a major impact to travel across the region. Snow will slowly end from west to east Thursday as bitterly cold air continues to push in. We could flirt with record lows again by Friday morning with some areas near zero.
CORBIN, Ky. (WKYT) -- Whitley County Sheriff Colan Harrell tells us that around 10:30 Saturday night police were called out to High Top Road, just outside of Corbin.
When they arrived they found 24-year-old Adam Hart, from the Woodbine Community of Whitley County, had been stabbed four times in the back.
Hart was taken to the Corbin Hospital, and was flown out to the UK Hospital where he was treated and later released.
Harrell tells us that they are searching for 44-year-old Jerry L. Lawson of Tidal Wave Road, in Whitley County in connection with the altercation.
According to Harrell, Hart said that he and Lawson got into a dispute in which Lawson pulled out a knife, stabbing him four times in the back before fleeing the scene.
At around 11:30am Sunday morning, Deputy Shawn Jackson was able to track Lawson to a residence on Stoney Fork Road.
Lawson was arrested without incident and charged with second-degree assault.
Lawson was found in possession of a small pocket-style knife at time of arrest.
Lawson will be lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center.
