An investigation is underway after corrections officials say two staff members were stabbed at a federal prison in southern Kentucky.
It happened around 5 Monday afternoon at the U.S. Penitentiary near Pine Knot in McCreary County.
Corrections officials say two staff members conducting routine searches of inmate living quarters were stabbed by an inmate.
Officials say the staff members were taken to a hospital, where they were treated and released.
Officials say the prison has been placed on lockdown for the time being.
The names of the staff members and the inmate involved in this incident have not been released.
Officials say the prison is secured and this incident is no threat to public safety.
