PERRY COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Police have launched an investigation into the death of an inmate at the Perry County jail.
State Police say the inmate and two members of the staff at the Kentucky River Regional Jail got into an altercation Tuesday morning.
Police say staff restrained the inmate and kept checking on him. He was later found unresponsive.
We're told the inmate was taken to a hospital, where he later died.
The coroner has not released his name. An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.
Police have not said what sparked the altercation.
