State audit discovers missing money in Harlan Co.

HARLAN CO. (WKYT) - A state audit has discovered money missing from the Harlan County Sheriff's Office.

The audit found more than $37,000 missing from the office's drug buy fund. The sheriff says he asked state police to investigate after learning of the missing money because he'd just fired an employee for theft.

The auditors office also plans to have state police investigate.
