FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Kentucky now has its 61st nature preserve.
The Kentucky State Nature Preserves Commission recently dedicated the 1,800-acre site, which is called the Archer Benge (BIHN'-jeh) State Nature Preserve.
The new preserve sits along Laurel Fork in Whitley County.
A news release from the state energy and environment cabinet says it is the eighth state nature preserve on Pine Mountain, which is one of the most rugged, least developed areas of Kentucky.
